FAQs

  • Is there a specific tour group or guide for the Freedom Trail?

You can walk the Freedom Trail on your own (most people do) and read the historic markers along the way. But if you desire a deeper understanding of the historical context, you'll learn much more on a guided tour. Group tours depart from Boston Common - just look for people wearing colonial-era costumes.
  • Where does the Boston Freedom Trail start?

The Freedom Trail begins at Boston Common and ends at the U.S.S. Constitution and Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. To get back to downtown Boston, you can take a taxi, rideshare, or the Charlestown Water Shuttle. Most people plan an entire day to explore the 2.5-mile pathway.
